What our New Board Member Brings to the Table

Potlucks can be a great way to get together with friends. However, we have all been to those potlucks where everyone brings a dip and some form of chips. Those aren’t really the best because although you are still getting the social interaction, everyone usually leaves hungry. The best potlucks are those where the host organizes who is bringing what so that the experience is social and the meal is also well rounded and delicious.

Why the potluck analogy?

Because building a team is a similar endeavour. Successful leaders recognize what support they need and bring those people on board to ensure their success. That is why Jason Ferreira has brought on Steve Boulton as a member of our Board. Steve’s interests, experience and knowledge, which we will look at below, complement ONE Development’s vision and business model, including using equity crowdfunding to raise capital for real estate projects to diversify who has access to the market.

Here are some of the proof points as to why Steve is such a great fit and to bring his experience and advice to ONE Development’s Board:

·        Experience redeveloping residential property in mature neighbourhoods turning the worst houses on the block into the most valuable

·        Experience in asset management

·        Co-ordinating all phases of property development from planning and design through construction and property management

·        Experience with new property acquisition assessment (developable area, municipal restrictions, and financing projections)

·        Licensed architect; and

·        MBA from York University’s Schulich School of Business

Although Steve is currently located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, before moving to Winnipeg, he worked in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and is familiar with the unique characteristics of the Toronto real estate market. Like Jason Ferreira, ONE’s CEO, Steve started working on developing single family homes in established neighbourhoods.

Overall, we are thrilled that Steve will be joining the ONE Development team as a Board member and bringing his expertise, knowledge and passion for real estate with him.
